William (Red West)
is planning a one way trip to Blowing Mountain, an action that (along with his miserable face)drives
cab driver Solo (Souleymane Sy Savane) to
accept the fare in order to prevent suicidal calamity. Naturally bouyant and a dogged optimist,
Solo atttempts to involve William in his own chaotic circumstances, in a belief that creating intimacy
in a persons life might lead to them finding reasons to perservere with their own.

Bahrani (Man Push Cart,
'Chop Shop') is typically unconventional in his approach to
film structure, tipping us directly into the storyline,
evoking the social realism that always comes through strongly in his films. Unfussy, and understated, Goodbye Solo is a
lyrical and tender drama that will amply reward.
