Controversially a huge hit in France this “buddy movie” partners a paralyzed millionaire with a man out on parole for robbery. The company of each other allows them both to experience a sense of freedom they could not enjoy apart. Whether this film successfully charts the difficult waters of inter-racial care or is simply a soothing fantasy is an issue that has divided film juries around the world.
