Coming of Age Drama | Film Notes
This quietly beautiful film examines the lives of children in a small Turkish village situated on a mountainside near the sea. Their lives are ordered five times a day by the “voice of God’s messenger” floating down from the minaret. Things are as they have been for generations. Through their eyes we enter a remote and hidden world with all its secrets, happiness and hypocrisy.
