“Dogtooth” is dysfunctional family – big time. In fact the family in question are literally prisoners of a dominating patriarch. Billed as a black comedy Dogtooth won the “Un Certain Regard” section at Cannes 2009 and has achieved amazing critical acclaim for its inventive use of pared down dialogue, cinematography that resembles a series of family photographs and amazing performances. This is an uncomfortable topic handled superbly by a master craftsman filmmaker.
